February 2011

February is my LEAST favorite month. Yep- it's ALWAYS cold, ALWAYS snowy, and ALWAYS way too far away from spring. It' the month where my lovely 6th graders start to turn into pre-teens with attitudes because summer break is too far away. Spring break is still a month or even two away, and Christmas break is long forgotten. In Mukwonago, where the subdivision is still unfilled, the snow blows a lot, and we get buried. There are some nights when I have to park my car in the street and try to shovel myself a pathway before I can get up the driveway. At least the snow looks pretty.

We had QUITE the snowstorm in February. No school for me for two full days, but Andrew had to go back after one. My school district builds a few snow days into our schedules, but Andrew's doesn't. So, he had to make that snow day up in May.

All that snow makes for a lot of fun when you're a kid. As an adult....not so much. Ryan and John handled this snowy mess. Ryan actually had to stay home from work because there was NO getting out of our driveway. One of our crazy neighbors tried, but got totally stuck in the road. (No the crazy neighbor wasn't John.)

Superbowl Sunday was a blast at our house. The Teska family came over in their Packer attire....yes, even Kristin, our Chicago girl! ;o) I think Aaron Rodgers can turn even the most die hard Bears female fan into an instant Packer fan. ;o)

Ah, yes, the Black Eyed Peas. Our kids got their groove on to the halftime show.

Andrew had yet another Boy Scouts banquet in February. Aveya is enjoying a cupcake for dessert.

Aveya sat more attentively than most of the Seekers did.

One good thing about February is that it brings us Disney on Ice. I will go every year because it's one of the best shows around for kids. Aveya donned her Tinkerbell costume and we headed for the show. Since Ryan was his usual frugle self, I knew we wouldn't be spending $50 on light up toys that my kids would inevitably break, so I packed the diaper bag with glo bracelets and necklaces. Thank you, Nana, for always buying those for us! They came in handy!

Speaking of diaper bags, our little Tinkerbell now uses the big girl potty. She was potty trained officially in January, but in February we no longer used pull ups or diapers as a precaution. She's an only-undies girl now! ;o) That makes us officially diaper free!

Every February, we get off for a teacher's convention. I don't usually attend this one because of my kids. So, it gives me an extra day to spend with them. Kristin and I felt brave and so we took the kids for a playdate at the Big Backyard in New Berlin, followed by a trip to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. Our girls looked like triplets, and thank goodness for Andrew who is always a nice set of extra hands when we're out in public with three toddlers.

Andrew has a twin in each hand. We walk like ducklings in a parade with Auntie Kristin heading up the line. Aveya has my hand, and away we go.

After a fun trip to Walmart, we went to our house to continue the playdate. Man, we did a lot that day. The kiddos played in bubbles for a looooong time. ;o)
